Khiva is one of the main tourist destinations in Uzbekistan. In 2026, getting there has become easier.
Starting from May 2, 2026, a new high-speed train “Jaloliddin Manguberdi” will operate between Tashkent and Khiva.
Travel time is around 7–8 hours.
Previously, the journey took 14–15 hours.
This is the most convenient option with no transfers.
Tickets should be booked in advance, ideally 30–45 days before travel.
There are also other options.
A flight to Urgench takes about 1.5 hours.
Then 30–40 minutes by car to Khiva.
This is the fastest option but more expensive.
Night trains are cheaper but take longer — about 14–15 hours.
Prices:
High-speed train — $30–60
Night train — $20–40
Flight — $60–100
What should you choose?
For balance — high-speed train
For speed — flight
For budget — night train
Khiva is often visited as part of a route:
Tashkent → Samarkand → Bukhara → Khiva
Hotels in Khiva are limited, so booking in advance is recommended.
